NDLEA Auctions Drug Lords’ Properties for Over ₦6 Billion

Written on

Luxury properties once owned by convicted drug traffickers have been sold to the highest bidders. The auction generated more than ₦6 billion as authorities intensify efforts to strip criminals of their illicit wealth.

Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has auctioned forfeited properties linked to convicted drug traffickers, raising more than ₦6.15 billion through a public bidding process.

The assets included a six-storey hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, alongside residential and commercial properties in Lagos and Ondo states that had been permanently forfeited by court order.

The agency said the auction forms part of a broader strategy to deprive organised crime networks of assets acquired through illegal drug activities while reinforcing transparency in asset recovery.

Officials added that the proceeds will go to the Federal Government, with similar forfeited properties expected to be disposed of through future public auctions.
