Ghana Building Cost Inflation Falls to 2.2% After 11-Month Decline

Ghana’s construction costs are finally cooling after last year’s painful spikes. But while overall inflation is slowing, some building materials are still getting more expensive.

Ghana’s building cost inflation dropped to 2.2% in March 2026, marking the 11th straight month of slowing price growth in the construction sector. The slowdown could bring relief to developers, contractors, and homebuilders who struggled through double-digit construction inflation in 2025.

Lower cost volatility may also improve project planning and encourage delayed housing and infrastructure developments to restart. Still, categories like glazing and electrical works continue to see sharp price increases, highlighting ongoing supply and labour pressures within the industry.
