Kenya's Boma Yangu Chesumei Estate in Kapsabet, Nandi County, is taking shape as a 1,065-unit integrated housing scheme split across social, affordable and market-rate segments.
The Boma Yangu Chesumei Estate in Kapsabet, Nandi County, is being developed as a 1,065-unit integrated residential scheme after President William Ruto launched the project in March 2026, widening access to housing in the western Kenyan town.
The development plan arranges the homes across 13 structural blocks, made up of four Type C blocks, eight Type B blocks and one Type A block. Housing options span three financial brackets: social housing with subsidised one-, two- and three-room units; affordable housing with studio and two- and three-bedroom apartments; and market-rate homes offering larger premium two- and three-bedroom units.
Amenities are planned within the residential boundaries, including four classrooms, an early childhood development centre, a community centre, a dining hall and a basketball court. Beyond the site, new classroom blocks are slated for construction at Nandi Primary, Muslim Primary and Kapsabet Primary schools, one block for each institution.
Construction is generating local employment, with about 360 workers currently engaged on the site. Officials said the activity is spurring demand for raw building materials, transport, skilled trades, food catering and direct construction supplies.
The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration is backing the surrounding operational environment, with government officials noting that secure housing foundations support long-term household stability and regional public safety.
