Rental Income Slump Drags Laptrust Imara I-REIT Into Loss

Written on

Laptrust Imara I-REIT is feeling the squeeze as rental income drops sharply across its portfolio. The decline, paired with property valuation losses, has pushed the fund deeper into the red and pressured investor returns.

Laptrust Imara I-REIT has reported weaker performance for its latest financial period, driven by a sharp decline in rental income across its property portfolio in Kenya.

The drop in recurring earnings, combined with continued property revaluation losses, pushed the trust into a deeper net loss position.

Rental income fell by about 39% to roughly KSh 290 million, while fair value losses on investment property weighed further on overall results.

The REIT posted a net loss of about KSh 280 million, with net asset value per unit slipping below its listing price.

Investor returns remain under pressure, with future performance dependent on occupancy levels, tenant demand, and recovery in the commercial property market.
