Mahama to unveil Sentuo's US$1.3bn Airport Garden City in Accra

President John Dramani Mahama is expected to attend the unveiling of Sentuo Group's proposed US$1.3 billion Airport Garden City project on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, as the Special Guest of Honour.

The project, planned for the Airport area of Accra, is expected to include apartments, a hotel, shopping facilities, healthcare services and a conference centre with capacity for about 2,500 people.

The development could create opportunities for Ghanaian businesses and workers across the construction, hospitality, transport, retail and property management sectors if the planned facilities are delivered, from engineers, architects, artisans and equipment operators during construction to catering, hospitality, security, cleaning and facility management once the hotel, retail and conference components become operational.

The scale of those opportunities will depend largely on the extent to which Ghanaian firms and workers participate in both the construction and the eventual operation of the development, making local content measures, skills training and knowledge transfer important to how much of the project's economic activity is retained locally.

The residential component could attract Ghanaian professionals, members of the diaspora and expatriate residents seeking housing alongside access to commercial, healthcare and hospitality services, while the conference centre could provide a venue for corporate events, exhibitions and other large gatherings.

The unveiling will give the developers an opportunity to outline their plans for the US$1.3 billion development, including its proposed facilities and expected economic benefits, although the eventual impact will depend on the pace of construction, the scale of investment and how quickly the planned facilities become operational.
