Construction of the 729-unit Boma Yangu Nandi Hills Estate in Kenya is about 75 per cent complete, bringing new housing closer to delivery in the fast-growing town in Nandi County.
The development, spearheaded by the State Department for Housing and Urban Development, comprises six residential blocks with a total of 729 housing units. The homes are being offered under Social Housing, Affordable Housing and Market Rate segments, providing options for households with varying income levels.
The estate will also include 26 integrated commercial shops intended to accommodate small businesses, alongside children's play areas, landscaped green spaces and secure communal areas. The gated estate will have reliable water connectivity and backup power to maintain essential services during electricity interruptions.
Nandi Hills' growth is being driven by tea factories, agriculture, agro-tourism and growing interest in sports tourism, which have increased demand for quality, affordable housing close to workplaces. The project is intended to support the development of a planned community as the town expands.
Once completed, the Boma Yangu Nandi Hills Estate will add 729 housing units to the area's residential stock, together with commercial spaces and shared amenities, as part of government efforts to expand access to housing and support organised residential communities across Kenya.
