Ghana's National Homeownership Fund to host housing finance conference in October

Written on

The National Homeownership Fund will convene a two-day National Conference on Housing Finance on October 7 and 8, 2026, to explore innovative solutions to Ghana's housing finance challenges.

The National Homeownership Fund (NHF), in collaboration with government agencies and development partners, will convene a two-day National Conference on Housing Finance to explore innovative solutions to Ghana's housing finance challenges.

The conference, scheduled for October 7 and 8, 2026, will be held in commemoration of World Habitat Day and will bring together local and international stakeholders to mobilise expertise, financing and partnerships for affordable housing.

Prosper Hoetu, Chief Executive Officer of the NHF, told the Ghana News Agency that the conference would focus on addressing structural barriers that have limited access to decent and affordable housing, particularly for low-income households.

The 2024 Ghana Housing Profile estimated the country's housing deficit at approximately 1.8 million units, with more than 30 per cent of existing housing stock considered inadequate. Hoetu said many households continued to live in overcrowded conditions, with insecure tenure and limited access to basic services, including water and sanitation.
