The Chief Emeka Agba Foundation has petitioned Nigeria's EFCC to examine Dubai-based Rise Properties LLC ahead of property investment marketing events scheduled for Abuja in September.
The Chief Emeka Agba Foundation has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to urgently examine the activities of Rise Properties LLC, a Dubai-based real estate company reportedly scheduled to hold property and investment marketing events in Abuja on September 12 and 13, 2026.
The petition, signed by Chief Emeka Agba, chairman and founder of the foundation, said the organisation is concerned about the possibility of Nigerian citizens being solicited to transfer substantial funds abroad without adequate verification of the company's Nigerian representation, regulatory status, properties being offered and payment channels.
The foundation stated that it is not alleging that Rise Properties LLC is fraudulent, describing its concern as preventive. It asked the commission to establish the company's legal identity and beneficial ownership, its Dubai licensing and real estate regulatory status, and the identity of its Nigerian representatives and agents.
It also urged the commission to ascertain whether any aspect of the offering requires Nigerian regulatory approval, verify the authenticity of the properties being marketed, and examine the proposed Nigerian and Dubai payment accounts and remittance channels for potential financial-crime risks.
Agba recalled that in 2016 the EFCC raided and sealed the Abuja office of The First Group, another Dubai-based real estate company, in connection with an investigation into alleged property fraud.
