FMBN Finances Over 9,000 Homes in Two-Year Housing Push

Written on

Nigeria’s housing finance agency has accelerated affordable housing delivery with funding for more than 9,000 units. The move highlights a growing push to expand home access through mortgage-backed development.

The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) has financed more than 9,076 housing units between 2024 and 2025 as part of efforts to expand affordable housing access across the country. The bank says the initiative is focused on supporting sustainable housing delivery, particularly for low-income and informal sector workers who often face barriers to traditional mortgage financing.

FMBN reported increased support for housing developers, with project loan disbursements rising significantly during the period as the institution strengthened its role in financing residential construction. The bank also highlighted partnerships with governments, private developers, labour organisations, and housing stakeholders as essential to delivering homes at scale.

The housing push forms part of broader efforts to address Nigeria’s housing deficit through improved access to finance, public-private partnerships, and affordable mortgage solutions. Officials say continued collaboration will be critical to ensuring more Nigerians can access decent and sustainable housing.
