A 42-year-old man and his 11-year-old son died when a wall belonging to a logistics firm collapsed onto their house in Kambodia, Jomvu, on the outskirts of Mombasa, early on Monday.

A 42-year-old man and his 11-year-old son died after a wall belonging to CEVAS Logistics collapsed onto their home in Kambodia, Jomvu, early on Monday morning.

Police said the incident occurred at about 1.30 am when the wall fell onto an adjacent house occupied by a family of three. The victims were identified as Ignitous Lenjo Kidero, 42, and 11-year-old Elias Kidero. A 21-year-old son, Samson Kidero, survived and is receiving treatment in fair condition, according to police.

Officers from Mikindani Police Station and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Jomvu, together with members of the public, rescued the three people from the rubble. They were rushed to Mikindani Medical Hospital, where Ignitous and Elias were pronounced dead.

The bodies of the deceased were moved to Coast General Hospital mortuary, where they are awaiting post-mortem examinations. Police said the scene was secured and processed as investigations continued to establish the circumstances surrounding the collapse.

The incident adds to concerns over the safety of structures located close to residential homes, particularly in densely settled parts of Jomvu where residential and commercial developments exist side by side. DCI officers in Jomvu are handling the investigation, with police expected to issue a further report as inquiries continue.
