Egypt's Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk detailed five steps for obtaining certified online clearance for real estate transaction tax as the country expands digital tax services.
Egypt's Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk said citizens are showing notable interest in using the real estate transaction tax mobile application to benefit from new incentives and digital facilities.
He said the Ministry continues to develop tax services and simplify procedures for citizens to save time and effort and improve service quality.
Kouchouk said the new facilities include a full exemption for real estate transactions between spouses, children and descendants, as well as extending the payment period for real estate transaction tax from 30 to 60 days. Citizens can now register real estate transactions through the mobile application, with indicative prices determined based on actual market values, and Egyptians living abroad can also benefit from all available services.
The Minister explained that citizens can obtain a certified final clearance confirming payment of real estate transaction tax online through five steps.
Rasha Abdel Aal, head of the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA), said taxpayers have responded positively to the electronic systems and mobile application and have begun creating accounts and filing their tax returns electronically. She urged taxpayers who have carried out real estate transactions to register their sales, providing accurate details of the property and attaching the required contracts and documents to ensure the assessment process runs smoothly.
Ibrahim Sarhan, chairman and managing director of eFinance, said the tax system is undergoing qualitative development and a positive shift towards establishing a customer-service culture.
