CityGate awards Asokoro Towers and Villas construction to MetroDec

Written on

CityGate Group has awarded MetroDec Engineering the contract to build its CityGate Towers and Villas development in Asokoro, Abuja, a project planned around three 12-storey towers and seven villas.

CityGate Group has awarded the construction of its CityGate Towers and Villas development in Asokoro, Abuja, to MetroDec Engineering Company Limited. The agreement was formalised on September 10, 2026, at CityGate Group's corporate headquarters in Abuja, with the group's chairman, High Chief Duru Mike Ejiogu, signing on its behalf.

The project sits on Plot 220, Cadastral Zone A04, Asokoro, in the Federal Capital Territory. It is expected to comprise three 12-storey towers, six six-bedroom luxury villas and one signature villa, alongside residential and supporting facilities. CityGate describes it as a multi-billion-naira development.

The award is the latest step in CityGate's expansion of its residential property portfolio across Abuja, where it already has projects in Kubuwa, Kaura, Games Village, Katampe Extension and Life Camp. In November 2023, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, performed the groundbreaking ceremony for CityGate's 480-unit Kubuwa Housing Project covering phases II and III, which the Federal Ministry of Information described as part of the private sector's contribution to addressing Nigeria's housing deficit.

Nigerian media analyst and publisher Njoku Macdonald Obinna said the scale and location of the Asokoro scheme would be key to judging its eventual impact. "Real estate is not about putting blocks together and calling it development. A serious developer must think about location, infrastructure, value, quality and the people who will eventually live in the community," he said, adding that the real test would be "the quality and timely delivery of what has been put on paper."

MetroDec Engineering says it has more than two decades of experience in design, engineering and construction and has executed more than 100 contracts across Nigeria, covering residential, commercial and industrial projects.
