China Pledges RMB 200m Grant Assistance to Support Nigeria’s Development Goals

Written on

China commits an RMB 200 million (approx. ₦40.3 billion) grant to Nigeria to fund mutually agreed development projects, reinforcing economic cooperation under the China-Nigeria Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The Chinese Government has pledged an RMB 200 million grant (approximately ₦40.3 billion) to the Federal Government of Nigeria to finance development projects mutually identified by both nations.

Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, announced the grant during a diplomatic meeting with the Permanent Secretary of Nigeria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Dunoma Umar Ahmed, in Abuja.

The grant initiative aligns with outcomes from the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Summit and ongoing bilateral commitments between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and President Xi Jinping.

While specific project allocations remain under review, the funding aims to support national economic growth, key public infrastructure, and technical development programs designed to relieve fiscal pressure on state reserves.
