Afriland Properties Plc has named Iyabode Olayemi Ayobami-Ojo, former Managing Director of NNPC Properties Limited, as an Independent Non-Executive Director.

Afriland Properties Plc has named former Managing Director of NNPC Properties Limited, Iyabode Olayemi Ayobami-Ojo, as an Independent Non-Executive Director, the company announced.

The appointment comes after Ayobami-Ojo led the transformation of NNPC Properties Limited from an underperforming organisation into a commercially focused real estate business through governance reforms, strategic asset management and improved operational efficiency. During her leadership, the company unlocked value from previously underutilised assets, strengthened its governance framework and repositioned its property portfolio to generate stronger returns.

Ayobami-Ojo brings more than 30 years of professional experience spanning real estate, corporate governance, business services and institutional development. Before taking charge of NNPC Properties, she served in several senior roles within the NNPC system, including Director of the NNPC Academy, Executive Director of Business Services at NNPC Trading Limited, and General Manager of External Relations in the Group Public Affairs Division.

Announcing the appointment, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Afriland Properties Plc, Azubike Emodi, said the company was pleased to welcome Ayobami-Ojo to its board, adding that her experience in real estate, governance and asset optimisation would bring an invaluable perspective to the Board.

Afriland Properties said the appointment reflects its focus on strengthening corporate governance and board effectiveness as it pursues further growth in Nigeria's real estate market. The company is involved in real estate investment, development and property management across Africa.
