Newlyn Group’s 150,000-square-metre logistics park on Cape Road in Gqeberha is advancing, with the first 10,000-square-metre warehouse due for completion by December 2026.
Newlyn Logistics Park, a 150,000 square metre development on Cape Road in Gqeberha, is taking shape as demand for logistics space grows. The site is about 5km from the N2 and 20 minutes from the Port of Gqeberha.
Phase 1A comprises a 10,000 square metre warehouse with a matching 10,000 square metre yard and 200 to 300 square metres of office and ancillary space. The warehouse is due for completion by December 2026, and Phase 1B will add a second facility.
With Industrial 1 zoning and infrastructure tailored to operational requirements, the park is designed to accommodate warehousing, distribution, freight, courier and light-manufacturing operations.
Newlyn Group chief development officer Viresh Persad said the differentiator lies in the detail of the buildings. "Over the years, we have continued to refine the way we design logistics facilities, based on what works operationally and by removing potential challenges that tend to arise for tenants," he said.
The warehouses feature 200mm FM2 power-floated concrete floors engineered for a uniform distributed load of 10 to 12 tons and future racking installation, a 24m by 24m column grid and a clear height of 10.5m to the underside of the structural truss, allowing racking of roughly seven levels.
Newlyn Group says it has a 30-year track record of investing in and developing infrastructure that improves the efficiency of national supply chains, with a portfolio that includes logistics parks and multimodal freight facilities.
