Fine & Country Zimbabwe launches Property Passport to guide homebuyers and diaspora investors

Written on

Fine & Country Zimbabwe has launched an eight-week Property Passport campaign aimed at helping local and diaspora buyers understand land, construction, finance and the legal processes behind buying property in Zimbabwe.

Fine & Country Zimbabwe has launched the Property Passport, an eight-week initiative aimed at making the country's real estate market more accessible and understandable to Zimbabweans at home and in the diaspora.

Speaking at the launch, chief executive Karen Nyenga said the campaign is designed "to educate, entertain, engage and inspire Zimbabweans everywhere to participate more confidently in real estate". She said it is built around the idea that property involves far more than simply acquiring land. "It is about planning, finance, the legal processes, construction, professional services, investment, potential rental income and about development amongst many things," she said.

Nyenga said many Zimbabweans, especially those living outside the country, want to own property at home but are often held back by uncertainty. She listed common concerns including how buyers can verify the legitimacy of an opportunity, what documentation to expect, and the difference between buying land, a completed property or a stake in a development.

"These are not unreasonable questions. In fact, they are exactly the questions that a healthy property market should encourage people to ask, and Property Passport is our response to that need for greater understanding," she said.

Over the eight weeks, the agency will take audiences through different segments of the property market and different parts of the country, showcasing opportunities and developments while exploring the wider process behind them. Nyenga said the initiative is designed to speak to first-time buyers, experienced investors, diaspora Zimbabweans and those considering Zimbabwe as an investment destination.

She said the promotion would not substitute for legal, tax, valuation or financial advice, but was intended to help buyers know when those conversations need to happen and which questions they need to ask. It will feature property showcases, developments, conversations and experiences, along with value propositions curated by participating businesses.
