WestProp's ED Block at Millennium Heights in Harare has won the Best New Upmarket Residence Development award at the Africa Property Investment Summit Awards in Cape Town.
WestProp's ED Block at Millennium Heights in Harare has won the Best New Upmarket Residence Development award at the Africa Property Investment (API) Summit Awards in Cape Town.
WestProp chief executive Ken Sharpe received the award and dedicated it to his team, saying the recognition was a source of pride for Zimbabwe. "It is an honour to see WestProp stand tall at the API Summit, winning Africa's top award for residential development with Millennium Heights," he said. "I am proud of our team and designer Marco da Silva. This is not just for WestProp, but for Zimbabwe."
Named in honour of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, the six-storey ED Block was launched in November 2023 and has since been handed over to owners, who have begun taking occupation. The development comprises 102 apartments and two penthouses and was the first six-storey residential building in Harare's northern suburbs. WestProp has indicated that the next block could rise to 10 floors.
ED Block forms part of the Millennium Heights live-work-shop-and-play development, which also includes Radisson serviced apartments and plans for the Mall of Zimbabwe.
The project combines contemporary architecture with sustainability-focused design. Its facade features geometric lines and vertical gardens intended to improve air quality, regulate temperatures and introduce greenery into the urban environment, while floor-to-ceiling windows provide natural light and city views and cross-ventilation supports energy-efficient living.
The development uses steel, glass and other locally sourced materials, blending modern architectural design with elements inspired by Zimbabwe's architectural heritage.
