FG and Harmony Gardens to Break Ground on 5,000 Homes at Lekki Aviation Town

The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and developer Harmony Gardens will flag off a 5,000-unit scheme in Ibeju-Lekki on Wednesday, under the Renewed Hope housing programme.

The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and developer Harmony Gardens & Estate Development Limited will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for a 5,000-unit housing scheme at Lekki Aviation Town Estate in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, according to a programme notice for the event.

The ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the site within the Yegunda Government-Approved Resettlement Scheme, along the New Lekki-Epe International Airport Expressway. The project sits under the Renewed Hope Housing Development Initiative and the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria's Renewed Hope Housing Programme and is projected to deliver the 5,000 units within 24 months across three locations: Granville, The Parliament and Lekki Aviation Town.

Ahead of the launch, the scheme advertises an equity contribution of N5.5 million for eligible buyers, with mortgage financing of up to 90 per cent of the property's value, a single-digit interest rate and repayment periods of between 15 and 30 years, subject to eligibility and applicable terms.

Harmony Gardens' managing director and chief executive, Dr Audullahi Saheed Mosadoluwa, said the project is intended to widen access to homeownership through structured financing rather than outright purchase. "Our goal is to ensure that quality housing is no longer a privilege for a few but an achievable reality for many," he said, adding that the development is planned with community facilities, security systems and infrastructure.

The developer said the collaboration with the ministry and FMBN reflects a shared push to raise housing delivery and support wealth creation through ownership. Beyond the homes, the scheme is expected to generate construction jobs and demand for building materials, artisans and suppliers.

Ibeju-Lekki has drawn sustained developer interest in recent years as industrial, commercial, transport and residential activity expands around the Lekki Free Zone and the new international airport corridor.
