Bonded warehouse opens in Abuja with capacity for 700 containers

Written on

A new bonded warehouse with capacity for about 700 containers has begun operations in Abuja, offering importers inland storage and customs clearance closer to Nigeria's northern market.

A bonded warehouse with capacity for about 700 containers has begun operations in the Nigerian capital, operated by TRÏNŪ Bonded Warehouse, a subsidiary of Sirlyon Limited.

The facility is designed to ease the logistical burden of moving imported goods from seaports to their final destinations by allowing cargo to be transported under Customs bond to Abuja for storage, processing and clearance.

It offers container and general cargo storage, customs documentation and clearance support, cargo handling and consolidation, weighbridge services, as well as on-site office accommodation for the Nigeria Customs Service and other regulatory agencies.

Speaking at the commissioning, TRÏNŪ's Chief Executive Officer Bilal Ajijola said the facility was established to address the challenges businesses face when their cargo must be processed far from its final destination. “By creating a secure, customs-controlled facility in Abuja, we're bringing more of that process closer to where the goods are actually needed,” he said.

The commissioning comes amid Federal Government efforts to modernise customs operations and improve trade facilitation through digital platforms and expanded logistics infrastructure, including the Nigeria Customs Service's B'Odogwu platform.

Ajijola said the company's ambition is to develop bonded warehousing and inland logistics infrastructure across Nigeria, positioning the Abuja facility as a strategic inland gateway connecting businesses in the north to international markets.
