Abuja estate subscribers seek police protection as plot dispute escalates

Subscribers to Valington Premium City Estate in Idu have asked FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and the Inspector-General of Police to enforce a subsisting court order, alleging that rival claimants have marked their buildings for demolition and sealed access to the estate.
Owners of plots at Valington Premium City Estate in Idu, Abuja, have appealed to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and the Inspector-General of Police to protect their lives and property amid an escalating dispute over the land on which the estate sits, known as Plot 93, Cadastral Zone E06, Gousa District.
The subscribers, under the Valington Premium City Estate Idu Owners Association, said the matter is already before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in suit FCT/HC/CV/899/2026, where Justice S. B. Belgore ordered all parties to maintain status quo on 8 October and adjourned to 16 November to hear pending applications. A similar order was issued on 3 July.
In a Save Our Soul letter presented to the minister and the police chief on Tuesday, the association said Wingwall Design and Constructions Ltd, LCR Limited and Cityview Parks and Resort had marked houses in the estate for demolition on 18 September, pegged paths across subscribers' plots on 23 September and graded an internal road across plots on 25 September.
Association chairman Walter Mmeje said the subscribers are not contesting ownership of the land but want their investments protected, noting that many buyers are retirees who have committed their savings to the project. The letter, signed on behalf of subscribers by board of trustees member Chidi Imoko, also alleged that fences built by the rival claimants have sealed access to the estate.
The association said it wants the court order enforced rather than a fresh determination of title. The case returns to the FCT High Court on 16 November.
