300 Soweto families receive keys to new homes in Jabulani Parcel K

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi and other officials have handed over 300 completed homes to qualifying families in Jabulani, Soweto, in the second phase of allocations at the Jabulani Parcel K development.
Three hundred qualifying families in Jabulani, Soweto, have received new homes as part of the second phase of housing allocations at the Jabulani Parcel K development in South Africa.
Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi, Human Settlements MEC Tasneem Motara, City of Johannesburg Executive Mayor Dada Morero and Human Settlements MMC Councillor Mlungisi Mabaso led the handover of the completed homes to beneficiaries.
Beneficiaries were urged to protect their homes and not sell or rent them out, as the houses are intended to provide secure shelter for qualifying families.
Lesufi apologised to residents in Jabulani for the delay in allocating the completed houses, saying the homes had remained vacant for too long because of delays in electricity installation. He praised the beneficiaries for their patience during the delay, noting that they had refrained from invading the houses while waiting for the electricity connections.
He also reassured residents who are still waiting for houses that their homes would be delivered.
