Mi Vida Homes Expands Green Housing Push With IFC EDGE Certification

Written on

Mi Vida Homes is strengthening its position in Kenya’s green housing market after securing IFC EDGE certification for multiple residential projects. The recognition highlights rising demand for energy- and water-efficient homes in urban developments.

Mi Vida Homes has received IFC EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) preliminary certification for two of its residential developments, reinforcing its focus on sustainable housing in Kenya. The certified projects include KEZA Riruta Phase 1A and Amaiya Garden City – Block C, both assessed at the design stage for resource-efficient construction.

The certification, issued by the International Finance Corporation, evaluates expected savings in energy, water, and construction materials compared to conventional buildings. KEZA Riruta is projected to achieve about 25% energy savings and 34% water savings, while Amaiya Garden City is expected to deliver similar efficiency gains.

The recognition places Mi Vida among a growing number of developers aligning housing delivery with environmental standards and long-term cost reduction for homeowners. It also reflects increasing investor and buyer interest in properties that reduce utility costs while maintaining quality and affordability.

As Kenya’s housing demand continues to rise, green-certified developments are expected to play a bigger role in shaping future residential supply, particularly in large master-planned communities.
