Lagos Olympic City Project Targets Housing and Sports Infrastructure Gap

A massive new mixed-use “Olympic City” is being developed in Lagos to combine housing with sports infrastructure. Developers say the project could help ease the city’s housing shortage while creating dedicated athlete facilities.
A new Olympic City project launched in Lagos aims to combine residential housing with large-scale sports infrastructure in one of Nigeria’s most ambitious mixed-use developments.
The initiative, backed through a public-private partnership involving the Nigerian Olympic Committee and private developers, will include apartments alongside facilities such as football pitches, volleyball courts, tennis courts, and athlete accommodation.
Developers say the project could help address Lagos’ growing housing deficit while also strengthening grassroots sports development and community recreation.
The residential section will feature two-bedroom to four-bedroom apartments spread across part of the site, while sports facilities remain central to the development plan.
Project leaders say construction is expected to be completed within 24 months, although poor road access to the site remains a major challenge for developers.
