French companies are increasing their focus on Kenya’s housing sector following investment discussions held during the Africa Forward Summit hosted by Presidents William Ruto and Emmanuel Macron. The summit promoted a shift from traditional aid relationships toward investment-led partnerships between Africa and Europe.
The momentum quickly extended into real estate, with French construction and investment firms visiting Nairobi’s Starehe Point affordable housing project to explore potential joint ventures. The 6,000-unit development is designed for low- and middle-income households and includes commercial and community facilities alongside residential units. Kenyan developers say the project demonstrates the scale of opportunity in affordable housing as the country seeks more private capital to help address its growing urban housing deficit.
