IHG signs 250-key Crowne Plaza hotel in New Cairo with Kleek Development

IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with Kleek Development for a 250-key Crowne Plaza hotel in New Cairo, due to open in the first quarter of 2031 as IHG deepens its Egyptian pipeline.

IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with Kleek Development for a 250-key hotel in Sixth Settlement, New Cairo. Scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2031, the Crowne Plaza property will build on IHG's premium portfolio in Egypt.

Kleek Development is a joint venture between Emaar Al Delta for Contracting and Real Estate Investment and Modern Style Home Real Estate Company. The hotel will sit within a fast-developing mixed-use corridor serving East Cairo's business, commercial and residential communities, an area the companies describe as one of Egypt's fastest-growing districts on the back of continued infrastructure investment and population growth.

The hotel will offer a mix of guest rooms and suites alongside four dining venues, including an all-day dining restaurant, a lobby lounge and a bar. Six meetings and events spaces, including meeting rooms and a dedicated ballroom, will be supported by a swimming pool, fitness centre, spa and retail spaces.

Haitham Mattar, Managing Director for India, Middle East and Africa at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said New Cairo was evolving rapidly and that the growth was creating demand for internationally branded hotels that serve both business and leisure guests. "Crowne Plaza is particularly well suited to this market because today's guests rarely separate work and downtime as they once did," he said.

Eng. Hussein Dawoud, Chief Executive Officer of Kleek Development, said the partnership reflected the developer's confidence in one of the capital's most dynamic districts, adding that the company sees a clear opportunity to create a high-quality destination that responds to that momentum.

IHG currently operates 10 hotels in Egypt and has 28 hotels in its Egyptian pipeline, underscoring the country's importance as a strategic growth market for the group.
