Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo says the Nyanchwa Affordable Housing Project, also known as Boma Yangu Nyanchwa Estate, will accommodate 189 families in two blocks of 13 and 12 floors in Kisii Town.
The government has unveiled plans for a new affordable housing development in Kisii Town as it seeks to expand access to decent and affordable homes in the fast-growing town.
In an update on Saturday, November 7, Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo said the Nyanchwa Affordable Housing Project, also known as Boma Yangu Nyanchwa Estate, would provide accommodation for hundreds of residents once completed. “This growth has increased pressure on existing housing, prompting the Government to expand access to decent, affordable homes through projects such as the Nyanchwa Affordable Housing Project (Boma Yangu Nyanchwa Estate), which will accommodate 189 families,” he wrote.
According to Omollo, the estate will comprise two residential blocks standing 13 and 12 floors high, with units targeting different income categories through social, affordable and market-rate housing options.
The development will include retail shops, a kindergarten, a social hall and parking facilities, alongside water and electricity infrastructure to support households moving in. Omollo said its proximity to Kisii Town's central business district would give residents convenient access to services and public transport.
The announcement comes days after the Affordable Housing Board cancelled Tender No. AHB/DISPOSAL/02/2026-2027 for the proposed disposal, sale and lease of commercial business spaces at the Pioneer Affordable Housing Estate in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County. In a notice dated Tuesday, October 27, the board said the tender would be advertised again in due course and advised interested bidders to monitor its website, the Public Procurement Information Portal and the print media.
