Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo says structural works at the Kimumu AMS project in Eldoret are substantially complete, with the scheme to offer social, affordable and market-rate homes plus shops and recreational facilities.
The 226-unit Kimumu AMS Affordable Housing Project in Eldoret is nearing completion, with the main structural works substantially complete and external works ongoing, Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo said in an update on Sunday, 18 October.
Omollo linked the project to the city's growth, saying Eldoret's rapid expansion, driven by a growing population and increasing economic activity, is creating rising demand for decent and affordable housing, and that the scheme was designed to respond to that demand.
The development will provide a mix of social, affordable and market-rate homes alongside commercial spaces, parking, pedestrian walkways and recreational facilities, according to the principal secretary. It is designed as an integrated neighbourhood with improved internal roads, reliable utilities and modern waste-management systems.
No completion date, project cost or allocation timetable has been announced for the scheme, which forms part of the national Affordable Housing Programme. Omollo has issued a series of construction updates on Eldoret projects in recent days as the government pushes delivery of new units in the city.
