Abia State will soon start a major renovation and reconstruction of further sections of Ariaria International Market in Aba after completing part of its A Line, with affected shop owners given until 31 October to complete validation.
The Abia State Government will soon begin a massive renovation and reconstruction of other sections of Ariaria International Market in Aba to bring the market up to international standards, following the completion of a section of its A Line.
Briefing journalists in Umuahia on the outcome of this week’s State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti, the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, said the government would ensure that traders who owned shops before the renovation are not denied access to them.
The Ministry of Trade and Commerce has been directed to conclude the validation of affected shop owners before the next phase of the renovation begins, and the affected traders have until 31 October to complete the exercise.
Ariaria is one of Nigeria’s largest trading markets and a major commercial property cluster in Aba, and the state’s programme is intended to upgrade its infrastructure and trading environment.
The commissioner also said construction of a pedestrian bridge at Eziama Ring Road in Aba has reached an advanced stage and would provide a safer crossing for pedestrians once completed, part of a broader push on urban infrastructure in the commercial city.
