Egypt's Industrial Development Authority is offering 400 fully constructed factory units, ranging from 48 to 960 square metres, for ownership or rental across 10 governorates as part of a drive to localise industrial production.
Egypt's Industrial Development Authority (IDA) has announced the offering of 400 fully constructed industrial units across 10 governorates. The units are equipped with utilities and range in size from 48 square metres to 960 square metres.
They are designated for a range of industries, including engineering, food processing, chemicals, metalworking, pharmaceuticals, leather, textiles and building materials. The offering comes under directives from Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem to support supply chains, localise industrial production and expand investment opportunities for small investors and entrepreneurs.
IDA chairperson Nahed Youssef said the units would be offered under ownership schemes at eight industrial complexes: Merghem 2 in Alexandria, Sadat in Monufia, the Metal Industries Complex in Fayoum, Bayad Al Arab in Beni Suef, Al Matayra in Minya, Arab Al Awamer in Assiut, West Gerga in Sohag and Al Baghdadi in Luxor. Units will also be available under either ownership or rental schemes at the Al Genaina and Shabak Complex in Aswan, the Concrete Industries Complex in Fayoum and the How Complex in Qena.
Youssef said the offering aims to provide small investors with factories ready for operation, enabling them to launch production without incurring additional construction and infrastructure costs. The package includes financial incentives, simplified procedures for obtaining industrial licences and the possibility of securing bank financing, while applicants may also benefit from Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) programmes to buy machinery, equipment and production lines, along with technical assistance and marketing support. Applications, including unit reservations and the purchase of tender documents, will be processed entirely online through the Egypt Industrial Digital Platform.
The IDA noted that some of the units in the latest offering had recently been withdrawn from previous allottees as part of a campaign targeting unused industrial land and units, as well as projects that had exceeded their approved implementation schedules and additional grace periods. The move is intended to make the facilities available to serious investors and redirect them towards projects focused on actual production and employment.
