Two people have been killed and others injured in clashes between the communities of Buo and Tiwii in Ghana's Sissala West District, prompting the area's MP to appeal for restraint as security forces deploy.
Sissala West Member of Parliament Mohammed Adams Sukparu, who is also Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, has appealed for calm after clashes between the communities of Buo and Tiwii left two people dead and others injured. In a statement issued on Sunday, September 27, 2026, the MP expressed deep sorrow over the violence and extended his condolences to the bereaved families, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
"I urge all residents of Buo, Tiwii and neighbouring communities to remain calm, exercise restraint and refrain from any acts of retaliation, provocation, or violence," he said, warning against actions that could lead to further deaths and destruction of property. "Whatever differences exist between us, no land or boundary dispute is worth the loss of another human life."
According to the MP, the Regional Security Council and the District Security Council, together with personnel from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Armed Forces, have been deployed to the affected communities to restore calm while investigations into the clashes continue. He urged residents to cooperate fully with the security agencies and to provide any information that could help establish the facts and ensure justice is served.
Sukparu also appealed to chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth and women in the affected communities to help restore peace, saying the priority must be to prevent further violence and protect lives as the communities mourn those lost in the clashes.
