Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has inaugurated the 464-unit AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq Morire Housing Estate in Ijagbo, Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State, as the state said its land reforms have cut title processing from about 180 days to 35 days.
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Tuesday inaugurated the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq Morire Housing Estate in Ijagbo, Oyun Local Government Area, a 464-unit development delivered by private developer ISHI Homes.
The estate comprises 210 units of two-bedroom terrace apartments, 200 three-bedroom units and 54 four-bedroom terrace duplexes, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.
Represented by the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Dr Segun Ogunsola, the governor said the Morire City Project demonstrated what could be achieved when government creates the right environment for private investment. He said the developer's decision to name the estate after him recognised his administration's contribution to mass housing development in the state.
AbdulRazaq said reforms in land administration had reduced the processing time for a Certificate of Occupancy from 180 days to about 35 days, with roughly 600 certificates recently approved and signed since the reform began. He added that government had ensured access to land, facilitated prompt issuance of titles and provided timely approvals for market transactions.
The Chief Executive Officer of ISHI Homes, Dr Olayinka Ilufoye, said the project aims to democratise home ownership and make decent, affordable housing accessible to the people of Kwara South Senatorial District, targeting civil servants, traders and others who can access it through the National Housing Fund. He said the name Morire translates to “I have seen goodness.”
The Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Geographic Information Service, Alhaji Sulyman Abdulkareem, said the state had consistently placed housing development high on its agenda, and that timely approval for mortgage transactions was creating conditions for housing development to thrive.
