Four arrested in Gauteng over properties acquired with fraudulent documents

Police say four people have been arrested in connection with a fraud and corruption investigation involving several charges, including the alleged acquisition of properties across Gauteng using fraudulent documents.

The suspects were arrested in different parts of the province and were expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said the investigation is ongoing and that the charges relate to a number of matters. She said the accused are alleged to have acquired various properties across Gauteng utilising fraudulent documents.

Mathe added that one of the suspects is also accused of acquiring citizenship of the Kingdom of Eswatini using fake documents, saying that case and its investigation are still continuing.
