The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria has presented allocation letters for homes in Abuja, Kano and Lagos to at least 430 employees of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, with 197 mortgage applications worth about N8.3 billion being packaged.
Allocation letters for housing units across Abuja, Kano and Lagos have been handed to at least 430 employees of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), under the federal government's Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme.
The letters were presented to the beneficiaries on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 by the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), the state-owned real estate lender that finances the programme.
FMBN chief executive Shehu Usman Osidi said NMDPRA staff had subscribed to 359 housing units in Karsana, Abuja, and 14 units at Janguza, Kano, while 197 National Housing Fund (NHF) mortgage applications valued at approximately N8.3 billion were being packaged for submission to the bank. He said CityCode Mortgage Bank was working with the beneficiaries on the applications, with FMBN facilitating the financing process for eligible applicants.
Osidi said the bank's support for the programme extends beyond individual mortgages to large-scale project financing and off-take support. In the Karsana project, he said FMBN provided a N100 billion off-taker guarantee in addition to N19.9 billion in direct funding, to give developers greater certainty and enable eligible workers to access completed homes through sustainable mortgage arrangements.
Minister of Housing and Urban Development Muttaqha Rabe Darma reaffirmed the administration's commitment to affordable housing and announced plans to launch a social housing scheme targeting the delivery of 100 housing units in each local government area of the country, stressing the need for stronger collaboration among agencies in the sector.
Osidi also pointed to FMBN's recently launched Diaspora Mortgage Loan and a forthcoming Rent Assistance Product as responses to changing housing needs, while NMDPRA chief executive Rabiu Abdullahi Umar commended the inter-agency collaboration behind the allocations.
