FCTA reconstitutes land dispute committee to speed up resolution in Abuja

The FCT Administration's Department of Land Administration has reconstituted its Alternative Dispute Resolution committee to mediate land disputes in Abuja and reduce reliance on prolonged litigation.
The Department of Land Administration of the Federal Capital Territory Administration has reconstituted its Alternative Dispute Resolution committee to ensure faster, transparent and efficient resolution of land-related disputes across the nation's capital.
Inaugurating the committee in Abuja on Wednesday, the director in charge of the department, Chijioke Nwankwoeze, said the committee is tasked with leading mediation and conciliation efforts between conflicting parties involved in land matters.
He said the committee will meticulously review complaints and petitions, examine relevant land records and conduct unbiased interviews with affected parties before advising management on appropriate and equitable resolutions.
Nwankwoeze said the committee would serve as a viable alternative to traditional litigation by shifting away from prolonged court battles, promoting amicable settlements while ensuring strict compliance with mutually agreed terms.
He said the initiative aligns directly with the reform agenda of FCT minister Nyesom Wike, which he described as focused on sanitising land administration and improving service delivery to residents, as well as with President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda.
Committee chairman Samuel Agbana thanked the director for the trust placed in the team. The director said membership was based on proven experience, professional competence and confidence in the members' operational capabilities.
