Enugu State has called for private-sector housing investment to complement government efforts, as Powell Homes and Shelters commissioned the Hosana Estate at Ibagwa Nike in Enugu East Local Government Area.
Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has called for private-sector investment in housing to complement government efforts, describing the Managing Director of Powell Homes and Shelters Ltd, Architect Chibuikem Onyekachi Emmanuel, as a reference point for young people seeking to make an impact through enterprise.
The governor, represented by his deputy, Barrister Ifeanyi Ossai, spoke at the commissioning of Hosana Estate in Ibagwa Nike, Enugu East Local Government Area, where he called for private-sector housing investment to supplement state housing delivery.
The traditional ruler of Ibagwa Nike, Igwe Emma Ugwu, said the community welcomed genuine investment capable of contributing to its growth, and said he had assured residents who enquired about the project that it was in line with the state’s development agenda. He said Hosana Estate was designed as a planned, functional community built around the needs of modern families, with internal roads, drainage, electricity infrastructure, recreational facilities, a synthetic football pitch and a children’s playground.
Emmanuel said the company would keep developing quality homes at affordable price points while exploring innovative financing models and strategic partnerships to widen access to homeownership. He disclosed that Powell Homes and Shelters plans to expand its developments beyond Enugu to other parts of Nigeria where the need exists.
