Egypt banks and mortgage firms disburse EGP 111.1bn under housing finance initiative

Banks and mortgage finance companies taking part in Egypt's mortgage finance initiative for low- and middle-income customers had provided EGP 111.131bn in financing to about 723,604 customers as of July 2026, according to the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Fund.
A report issued by the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Fund shows that banks and mortgage finance companies participating in the mortgage finance initiative for low- and middle-income customers provided EGP 111.131bn in financing to around 723,604 customers as of July 2026.
The 23 participating banks provided about EGP 103.525bn in financing to low-income customers, benefiting around 689,813 people, and a further EGP 5.094bn to about 13,988 middle-income customers, accounting for roughly 4.6 per cent of total financing under the initiative. Mortgage finance companies provided EGP 2.45bn to around 19,299 low-income customers, or 2.3 per cent of the total, and EGP 60.697m to about 504 middle-income customers, representing 0.1 per cent.
The National Bank of Egypt topped the list of banks serving low-income borrowers in July 2026 with EGP 24.260bn provided to around 174,553 customers, a 21.83 per cent share of the initiative. Banque Misr ranked second with EGP 23.426bn for about 162,927 customers (21.08 per cent), followed by Banque du Caire with EGP 12.994bn for about 75,424 customers (11.69 per cent). QNB Egypt ranked fourth with EGP 8.612bn (7.7 per cent) and the Housing and Development Bank fifth with EGP 8.475bn for around 78,045 customers (7.63 per cent). Commercial International Bank - Egypt provided EGP 7.383bn to about 38,614 customers for a 6.64 per cent share, ahead of Bank NXT with EGP 3.278bn (2.95 per cent), United Bank with EGP 2.878bn (2.59 per cent), the Industrial Development Bank with EGP 2.460bn (2.21 per cent) and Mashreq Bank with EGP 1.431bn (1.29 per cent).
Among the eight companies participating in the initiative for low-income customers, Al Taamir Mortgage Finance led with a financing portfolio of EGP 967.869m covering around 7,236 customers. Contact followed with EGP 832.521m for about 6,115 customers, Al Ahly Mortgage Finance was third with EGP 285.334m covering around 2,544 customers and Amlak fourth with EGP 240.219m for about 2,213 customers. Tamweel provided EGP 50.391m, the Egyptian Mortgage Refinance Company EGP 43.042m, Ahli United Mortgage Finance EGP 19.973m and Arab African International Mortgage Finance EGP 12.211m.
For middle-income customers, Al Taamir, Contact, Amlak and Tamweel together provided EGP 60.697m in financing to around 504 customers, accounting for 0.1 per cent of the total financing provided under the initiative.
