City fire officials say faulty electrical wiring, overloaded sockets, ageing infrastructure and poor compliance with safety standards are driving the surge.
Several major fires have already damaged businesses, hotels and residential properties, raising concerns about the condition of older buildings across the city. Authorities also cite illegal electrical installations, unsafe fuel handling and delayed emergency reporting as contributing factors. The city is now urging property owners to conduct regular safety inspections as emergency responders face growing operational challenges, including worsening traffic congestion.
