Adeboye, Falana Demand Action as Nigeria’s Housing Crisis Deepens

Two influential Nigerian voices are pressing government to make affordable housing a national priority as homeownership becomes increasingly difficult. Their calls put renewed focus on housing laws, worker contributions and financing reforms.
Pastor Enoch Adeboye and human rights lawyer Femi Falana have renewed calls for stronger action to expand affordable housing across Nigeria. Their interventions come as rising construction costs, limited mortgage access and rapid urbanisation continue to make decent housing difficult to afford for many low- and middle-income households.
Adeboye called for stronger government-private sector collaboration, while Falana urged organised labour to push for effective implementation of existing housing laws, including the National Housing Act. He also questioned why millions of Nigerians remain without adequate accommodation despite contributions to the National Housing Fund.
Greater investment in social housing, housing finance and public-private partnerships could expand supply and strengthen Nigeria’s residential market.
