Tinubu Pressures Abuja Residents to Pay Ground Rents

Written on

President Bola Tinubu has tied Abuja's infrastructure ambitions to one key demand: pay your ground rents. He says stronger compliance is essential to fund more roads and public projects across the capital.

President Bola Tinubu has called on residents, landowners, and businesses in Nigeria's Federal Capital Territory to pay outstanding ground rents, taxes, and other statutory charges to support infrastructure development in Abuja.

The appeal came during the commissioning of a major road project, where he stressed that government investment in roads and public services depends on citizens meeting their financial obligations.

The administration says improved compliance will provide the resources needed to expand transport networks and deliver more urban infrastructure.

The renewed push also comes as authorities intensify efforts to recover unpaid ground rents and strengthen revenue collection across the capital.
