Nigeria Targets Mass Home Ownership With New PPP Housing Plan
Written on
Nigeria’s government says thousands of new homes could soon be delivered through private-sector partnerships. Officials are betting on PPPs to tackle one of the country’s biggest housing challenges.
Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development says it will unveil a new strategic housing roadmap aimed at expanding mass home ownership through public-private partnerships nationwide.
The plan was announced during the Renewed Hope Housing PPP Summit in Abuja, where officials outlined efforts to scale up housing delivery and accelerate ongoing projects.
The government says the initiative will rely on private-sector financing, innovative housing models, and state-level collaboration to increase supply and improve affordability. Officials also claim more than 15,000 housing units could become available for occupation within months if current projects are verified and completed as planned.
The roadmap is expected to play a central role in Nigeria’s wider push to reduce its housing deficit and stimulate construction-led economic growth.
