GAF Targets GH¢190m to Fund Burma Camp Redevelopment Push

Written on

Ghana’s Armed Forces are racing to secure GH¢190 million to kickstart a major housing overhaul at Burma Camp. The fundraising drive signals urgency in replacing ageing military accommodation with modern residential units.

The Ghana Armed Forces has launched a fundraising initiative to raise GH¢190 million to support the first phase of its Burma Camp Redevelopment Project in Accra. The mobilisation effort was presented at a high-level luncheon designed to attract support from government partners and the private sector.

The project is aimed at transforming outdated colonial-era military housing into modern residential blocks with improved infrastructure and expanded capacity. It forms part of a broader response to longstanding accommodation shortages affecting personnel across the armed forces.

The redevelopment is expected to improve living standards while reinforcing Burma Camp’s role as a key national security hub undergoing long-term modernization.

A board of trustees has been set up to oversee project funds and implementation, with phased construction and major milestones expected to roll out over the coming months as financing is secured
